Rug Cleaning Types

Here at Green Rug Clean, we have a lot of experience in various forms of indoor cleaning,
especially rug cleaning and rug repair. Through our years of working out in the field cleaning rugs,
we have noticed that there are different kinds of rugs and that each rug may require a different method of stain or odor removal depending on the kind of rug, the severity of the situation, and how long it has been since the last professional cleaning.

Rug Type Determination

Just as there are a variety of cars, and each of them may require different maintenance procedures, so too do rugs. There are a large variety of rugs, and each of those kinds of rugs may be dyed differently, or even have different textile patterns. All of these factors go into determining the rug cleaning solution type appropriate for the individual situation. That is why before starting to work on any rug, our team always determines what kind of rug it is. We do this so that you can be sure you are getting an effective treatment which will only serve to help maintain and promote the quality and longevity of your rug.

Rug History

Rugs were developed throughout history in different time periods, as well as different areas in the world. Each era and location of rug development had different methods and tools available to them while developing their respective rugs. This is why there are a variety of rug types and why each of them have different cleaning protocols. The following are different rug types which may call for different cleaning solutions:

  • Silk Rugs
  • Leather and Animal Skin Rugs
  • Antique Rugs
  • Tufted Rug
  • Needle Point Rugs
  • Shag Rugs
  • Modern Rugs (Chemical Dry Rugs)

different kinds of rugs may have vastly different cleaning protocols. For example, Silk Rugs Must be dry cleaned. This is because silk drugs are made out of vegetable dye. if you do not take care to properly dry clean silk rugs then their color will end up bleeding. Meanwhile, Chemical Dye rugs are sturdier. These rugs should be watched with a higher PH solution so that the deep colors can stay that way while making them much more vibrant and lively.

Leather Rug Cleaning Treatment

For leather and animal Rugs, our team makes sure to use our specialty dry cleaning treatment. We do this because Leather can be damaged if it is exposed to too much water. Our dry cleaning solution will leave your rug leaving better than new while guaranteeing that your rug will not be ruined in the cleaning process.

Antique Rugs

Like silk rugs, Antique rugs are also usually made with vegetable dye. That is why when our technicians clean antique rugs, they use a shampoo with a lower PH. This is done to ensure that the vegetable dye does not bleed through thereby damaging the colors of the rug.

Tufted Rugs

Theres rugs usually originate in China or India. In our experience the glue used in the fabrication of these rugs is of low quality. When these rugs get exposed to too much light or heat, or if they age too much, the glue deteriorates and turns into powder. This can even leave a foul burning smell.Due to the cheap nature of the glue, our team also recommends a glue replacement of the rug. Our team provides a surface steam machine wash for tufted rugs. We inject 600 PSI of steam into the fabric followed by a thorough vacuuming. The detergent used for this rug has a high PH to ensure high quality cleaning services.
